On August 27, 2021, both the Original and Zinger Double Downs were brought back again to the menu, but were discontinued at the end of October. These were available until April 30, 2019. In March 2019, the Original Double Down and the Junior Double Down returned to the menu with the Zinger Double Down also being reintroduced the following month. In January 2016, another new variation was introduced, the Double Down G which contained "crispy fried spinach" with a "secret green sauce". It was discontinued yet again in May 2014, but relaunched in January 2015 for a limited time only, together with a new variation, the Double Down Dog. The product was discontinued in the Philippines in mid-2012, but reintroduced in January 2014 together with a smaller version, the Junior Double Down. Nearly one year later, in October 2011, KFC Philippines replaced it with the Zinger Double Down, with a spicy flavor and crunchy skin. In November 2010, the Double Down was launched in select branches in the Philippines, the first in Asia. To obtain its halal certification, the bacon is replaced with a slice of processed smoked chicken. KFC South Africa premiered the Double Down in March 2013. Variants have included fillets that are grilled or with a spicy coating. It has two pieces of fried chicken fillet, as opposed to bread, containing bacon, cheese, and a sauce. The Double Down is a sandwich offered by Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurants. I am extremely disappointed as, after the performance of the Double Whopper, I had hoped for something similar.†Percentages are roughly approximated using US recommendations for adults. Each component did contribute to an overall experience of a little smoke, a little chargrill, and a little Burger Kingesque feeling. The Taste: 10/20ĭespite obvious flaws, the Bacon Double Cheeseburger had that familiar Burger King taste in retrospect. But, at this time of day, to hand me over a product like this is just disrespectful. I could usually symphasise in busier times, even at large chains, because the turnover has to be so quick, and it must be hard to maintain quality. To note, I ordered this burger at 11:18am on a Monday morning in Guildford at a restaurant that had a total of 4 people inside. These were stone cold, pretty flavourless, and dried. Who knows what happens in the back of a restaurant, and what company secrets are. The Double Whopper patties trump this burger 10/1. The overall taste was nice but the consistency just felt, well, wrong in every department. Even despite standing outside in the sun in one of the hottest days on record in the UK! Maybe I should have lifted the lid on the burger and let it sit on the car bonnet for a short while? As it happens, the cheese is surprisingly nice. Indeed I was correct, the Burger King Bacon Double Cheeseburger is supposed to have melted cheese! As you can see from the images, I had two freezing cold pieces of cheese that showed no signs of melting. I had to go to the website and double-check the menu to ensure that this American Cheese was supposed to be melted. The ketchup added a little flavour but my drizzle was not enough to disrupt the product’s flavour profile. I asked for some Tomato Ketchup to throw on there, something that most would go for, although not my favourite. The Bacon Double Cheeseburger actually doesn’t come with any condiments but Burger King has a healthy selection behind the counter.
